About SCorpMath

SCorpMath helps self-employed business owners estimate S-Corp tax differences before talking with a qualified tax professional.

Reviewed for 2026 assumptionsLast updated August 19, 2026

Why this exists

Many freelancers, contractors, LLC owners, and small business owners hear that S-Corp election may affect self-employment tax, but the first question is usually simple: what assumptions matter, and is the difference large enough to discuss with a professional?

What SCorpMath is

SCorpMath is an independently operated educational calculator and content site. It is designed to make assumptions visible, explain limitations, and point users toward qualified professional review when appropriate. The calculators run in the browser and do not require an account.

What SCorpMath is not

SCorpMath is not a CPA firm, law firm, payroll provider, tax preparer, or financial advisor. It does not prepare returns, file elections, or recommend a specific business structure.

Editorial and update policy

SCorpMath prioritizes official sources such as IRS, SSA, state tax agencies, and secretary of state offices when explaining tax assumptions or filing requirements. Pages should be reviewed when annual tax constants change, when official guidance changes, or before each tax season.

If a page includes partner links in the future, those relationships should be disclosed clearly and should not change calculator formulas, methodology, warnings, or educational explanations.

  • Calculator constants are stored by tax year and checked against official sources.
  • Tax and filing claims link to IRS, SSA, state tax agency, or secretary of state material where practical.
  • Material changes receive a visible page update date and a matching sitemap date.
  • No professional review credential is displayed unless that review actually occurred and can be identified.

The current formulas, assumptions, and exclusions are documented on the calculator methodology page.

Corrections and feedback

Tax rules and agency pages can change. If you find an outdated rate, broken official source, calculation concern, or unclear limitation, use the contact page to report it. Reports are checked against primary sources before content or calculator logic is changed.

Commercial independence

SCorpMath does not currently require payment to use its calculators. Future partner or referral links may support the site, but they should be labeled and should not determine calculator results, rankings, warnings, or editorial conclusions. See the affiliate disclosure for the standing policy.
